Tax Accountant

As a Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for the tax compliance for a portfolio of companies, as well as various other matters dealt with on a group basis

You will have the chance to work within a supportive and welcoming tax team who have a strong work ethic. You will need to be tenacious in dealing with the contacts at the business units to ensure high quality results continue to be produced whilst also acting as an ambassador for Group Tax, raising tax awareness and the profile of Group Tax

Your main responsibilities as a Tax Accountant will involve:

  • Preparing the UK corporation tax computations for the UK group companies
  • Reviewing the tax returns for overseas branches
  • Dealing with all aspects of UK corporation tax administration including the maintenance of group schedules
  • Corresponding and liaising with HM Revenue & Customs
  • Preparing year end and interim tax provisions for inclusion in the published financial statements for the worldwide BAE Systems Group
  • Preparing year end tax provisions for inclusion in the statutory accounts of the UK group companies
  • Liaising with the Group Tax advisory, VAT & employee issues teams on transactions and other issues
  • Developing and managing the internal relationships with business units including the Group Financial Reporting and Control teams
  • Involvement in internal tax technical and tax reporting presentations primarily to raise awareness of tax throughout the group
  • Responding to ad hoc queries from the business units
  • Undertaking other compliance reviews dealt with on a group basis and ad hoc tax compliance based project work
  • Reporting to the Corporate Tax Compliance Manager

Your skills and qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent) and/or qualified tax professional (CTA) with UK corporation tax experience gained in a leading accounting firm and/or experience in industry
  • Experience of using tax computation software such as Alphatax is desirable
  • Strong accounting background necessary
