Role: Senior Tax Associate - Medical GPs

Location: Guildford

Contract: Perm

Part Time/Full Time

Role Purpose

The primary responsibility will be to support management/ Partners with tax return compliance including a large portfolio of partnerships of Medical GPs.

The role holder will sit within the Guildford Private Client team that provides tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of regional, London and international clients.

Career progression at the appropriate time, subject to experience, performance, appraisal and assessment.



* Responsible for all day to day tax compliance and advisory affairs of clients (primarily GP Medical Partnerships), working with Managers/Partners

* Manage a portfolio of clients including control of billings and cash collection within the firms criteria

* There will be an expectation that you will take full responsibility for project delivery

* To assist the trainees with technical and procedural matters which will enable them to development of supervisory skills

* Meet and communicate in writing / orally with clients, intermediaries and HMRC

* To ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets and keep client/ Manager/ Partner informed of overruns

* Identify risk and technical matters, as well as business development opportunities, to the Manager/ Partner, whilst exercising judgement within agreed parameters

* Ensure that the firm's quality control procedures are adhered to as appropriate


* Ensure professional standards are met and supervise, support and develop trainees

* Begin to take on the role of developing and motivating staff as appropriate

Sales and Marketing:

* Participate in business development activity relating to new work as requested

Communication and representation:

* Develop professional relationships with clients and within the firm

* Provide an efficient and proactive service to clients and ensure that the clients' needs are fully met

* Pay attention to self-development and continuing professional education with a view to progressing within practice

* To support and work as a team player in achieving activities for their business area

* Work on own initiative

* Consult with management and Partners on technical and risk matters.


* Significant understanding of and previous experience within a tax compliance team

* Some tax advisory experience, but not essential

* Maintain an in depth, up to date, knowledge of taxation

* Ability to manage a client portfolio

* To actively seek opportunities for business development to existing and new clients

* Educated to degree level, and or ATT/CTA and/or ACA/AAT/ACCA qualified or equivalent
