A very interesting opportunity has arisen at a Multinational Investment Bank. They are looking for a Legal Counsel to join them on a 6 month assignment based in Glasgow. This role sits with the IP, Technology and Procurement Team of the Bank.
The IP, Technology and Procurement Team provide specialist Intellectual Property, Technology, Data Protection and Procurement legal advice on all of the Corporate and Investment Banking initiatives, projects and transactions, where necessary. The team also supports outsourcing and data transfer projects and coordinates legal advice on these projects for the business globally.
This role will support the Outsourcing Legal team, which is a part of the wider IP, Technology and Procurement Team. The Outsourcing Legal team advises on the review and implementation of the Group's offshoring and smart-sourcing initiatives by providing specialist advice on outsourcing, data transfers, banking secrecy issues, regulatory issues and some intellectual property and technology issues.
While the Outsourcing Legal team (and the wider IP, Technology and Procurement Team) is based in London, this role will support the Outsourcing Legal team from Glasgow.
-Advises on all aspects of intra-group outsourcing, including in respect of data protection, banking secrecy and confidentiality, and any other relevant local laws and regulatory requirements.
-Project manages the legal opinions from local counsel across multiple territories
-Collaborates with local counsel to ensure that a comprehensive review of the project is performed.
-Advises on the legal structure of the project.
-Advises on Service Level Agreements for each project.
-Apprises territory management and other key stakeholders of the legal implications of a proposed initiative.
-Develops templates, guides, policies and practices for intra-group outsourcing
-A junior lawyer, with 0-3 years PQE in a major international jurisdiction, preferably with relevant experience gained at a law firm or bank (preferably in a Commercial, IP & Technology or Outsourcing Team).
-Have an outgoing and robust personality and be capable of working for a diverse and demanding internal client base with often conflicting priorities. Have sufficient gravitas to advise business lines directly and be able to communicate legal risk effectively whilst maintaining and enhancing the Legal team's relationship with our internal clients.
-Work both autonomously as well as part of larger teams collectively advising on different parts of the Bank's initiatives.
-Ideally have knowledge of commercial, outsourcing (including SYSC 8 and EBA Guidelines on Outsourcing), banking secrecy, technology, and data protection laws (including GDPR). Be familiar with banking products and in particular financial derivatives and cash products.
