Reported as the county with the highest proportion of millionaires in the UK, Surrey also has a high number of professionals who work in financial services.

Countryside and towns - the best of both worlds

  • Similar adjusted earnings as working in London
  • Recognised as one of the country’s leading business centres
  • Greater availability of flexible working conditions - a better quality of life
  • Largest town is Guildford, with a population of 66,773
  • Large protected green spaces - North Downs & Greensand Ridge

A few team members from our Guildford office outline why they love living and working in Surrey.

Kelly Hayman - Manager, Commerce & Industry Recruitment

Why I love living in Surrey…“You have the best of both worlds being a short distance from the countryside as well as living near towns like Kingston or Guildford. We have plenty of cycling, walking and running routes on our doorstep and equally, it is very easy to get into London. As I have a small family, I love the fact that we have some of the top schools in the area and Surrey is a safe place to raise a family. We also have some amazing properties available at a more affordable price than in London.”

My favourite restaurant is…The Thai Terrace in Guildford.”

My favourite pub is…The Wheatsheaf on Esher Green - great food and atmosphere!”

On the weekends…“I like to get outdoors with the children, cycling or going to some of the amazing local parks. Afterwards, we often stop off for a pub lunch at one of the great pubs we have in Surrey.”

Louisa Stephens - Consultant, Human Resources

Why I love living in Surrey…“I love living in Surrey because you are surrounded by areas of outstanding beauty for a lovely country walk with the dogs, but there are also great links to London for a bit of city life. It’s the best of both worlds.”

My favourite restaurant is…Positano in Guildford - it’s the best Italian outside of Italy!”

My favourite pub is…The White Horse in Shere, I highly recommend it.”

On the weekends…“My favourite weekend activity is discovering the variety of different events put on by local clubs at the Godalming bandstand. A couple of weeks ago I went for a walk into Godalming and found myself watching the rock choir concert for a couple of hours.”
