Morgan McKinley Tax’s 6th or 5th Annual Pub Quiz

Ian Barker 04.11.2016

With some of the finest tax minds in London all congregated in one place, we had a tightly contested affair with plenty of friendly competitive spirit flowing as well as the odd drink.

So hopefully everyone that came now knows a hallux from a dugite and everyone got home safely. Some of my team look a bit ropey this morning but I think they probably earned a drink or two for all their hard work.

With some of the finest tax minds in London all congregated in one place, we had a tightly contested affair with plenty of friendly competitive spirit flowing as well as the odd drink.

Once again a massive thank you to everyone who took part in the raffle - we raised a massive £652.90 which we will pass on to Bliss. If you want to know more about what they do please click here.

As I mentioned on the night, Will, our resident quiz master, had a daughter, Lily, born 15 weeks premature earlier this year and she was the beneficiary of some amazing treatment from St Georges Neo Natal Unit in Tooting (which Bliss contributes to!) and he wanted to do something directly for them. He has put together an online auction to raise money for them and if any of the items catch your fancy we would be really grateful if you could make a bid. Find out more here.

Some items you could bid for include:

Tickets to sporting events
Driving experiences
A stay in a holiday home in Cornwall, Morzine, Colorado
And much more

All the charity work we are doing is part of the Morgan McKinley Million challenge, which is our aim to raise 1 million Euros by the end of 2018 for charity. You can read more about the challenge and some of the things we have done already here.

So, onto the results from last night...

In last place and winners of some beautiful “well done for trying” rosettes were:

DELOITTE! - They may want to have an internal inquiry and forfeit programme in place for some non attendees. They surely deserve some form of punishment!!

Well done to everyone in-between last and third place, you are neither class geeks nor bottom of the class. You are the fun ones at parties. However you also don’t get a name check due to your mid table mediocrity.

The top 3 (in reverse order)

Last years winners and very average maintainers of the much coveted winners shield: RBS

In second place, and very nearly barging in on the RBS / PwC stronghold, but walking away with some Champagne for their efforts: SONY!

But this years winners of £50 meal vouchers and, more importantly, custodians of the Winners Shield, engraved proudly with their name: PWC LONDON REGION TAX

Finally... the winner of £50 vouchers from our business card drop is: Lisa Roelefs at Liberty Global

Congratulations to everyone involved and see you all next year!
