Last week, Morgan McKinley hosted the first event in the Life after Qualification series.
The evening was an opportunity for newly qualified accountants to learn more about their various career options, and hear how our panel of guest speakers capitalised on their qualifications to achieve long-term success.
The evening was filled with great industry advice and words of wisdom. Here are some of our favourite insights;
One thing our diverse panel of speakers had in common was the ability to be courageous. A great piece of advice shared by Yasmin, was that “if it doesn’t work out, you have learnt something worthwhile.”
Keep your options wide and diverse. Although a refined job search is advantageous, it is important to remember that opportunities may also present themselves through unexpected doors.
Take responsibility for the development of your career, but don’t forget the amazing resources you have available to you. Learn from those who have trodden the path before you, and network with recruitment experts who can help get you to where you want to be.
“The biggest take away from the evening was learning about the different roles that people do and being able to listen to their advice on what they value and how they chose their careers.”
“Speaking with consultants was useful for their greater perspective on roles which could apply to us and interview techniques.”
“The event had a great style and was very well organised, casual and was a good duration.”
“The event was great - I liked the size of the space and the timing, so there was a bit of time to settle in and then straight into the speakers with useful Q&A after and then chance to network.”
Thank you to our panel of speakers for sharing their journeys, and thank you to all those who came along and participated.
The next Life after Qualification event will take place in the new year, with details to follow soon. If you would like a confidential consultation in the meantime or if you are looking for external audit jobs, please get in touch: firstname.lastname@example.org
