The speakers will be discussing their own careers and how being qualified was instrumental to their success. They will also be discussing ACA jobs and opportunities for newly qualified ACAs in their organisations.

Nick Stewart | Partner EY FAAS
2.1 in Law from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Nick Qualified at Deloitte (Anderson) within the banking and securities audit business. Nick then spent over 2 years in the NAA department (technical accounting) before joining Barcap. Nick progressed to Director before moving to the Structuring desk at Deutsche Bank with a key focus on providing strategic fx solutions that cover economic, accounting, regulatory and tax issues. In 2014, after 8 years in banking, Nick moved back to Big 4 to lead a team who provide advisory and consulting services to banks. He was made partner in the summer of 2016.
Rob Thompson | Head of Financial Performance at The Bank of England
After graduating in Law from the University of Bristol, Rob qualified with BDO Stoy Hayward in 2000. Following this, he spent 16 years in commercial and investment banks (including RBS & HSBC) where he held various finance, business management and COO roles in both front and back-office functions. Rob joined The Bank of England in 2017 where he is Head of Financial Performance and his team is responsible for ensuring the Bank’s financial sustainability, supporting new projects & ventures and acting as strategic business partners. Rob chairs the ICAEW Business Committee and is an ICAEW Council member.
Ed Briggs | Group Head of FP&A at BT
Ed graduated from UCL in 1996 with a degree in Philosophy & Economics. Ed went on to qualify with PwC in 2000. After leaving practice he spent time at Clifford Chance & Aviva before moving to work for BT, where he has worked for the last 10 years, working in an array of roles including Head of Transformation for Openreach, Finance Director-Central Finance for BT Consumer and Ed was recently appointed as Group Head of FP&A.
