Upcoming event in which Virgin Atlantic CFO, Tom Mackay will provide advice on the many different options available to ACA students as well as his previous experiences.
You're currently studying your ACA qualification and you find yourself at a crossroads in your career. Do you stay in practice, or do you leave for industry? It’s times like these where hearing from a professional could be useful; not just a recruitment professional, but someone who once had the same conundrum as you.
Morgan McKinley has teamed up with SECASS and Tom Mackay, CFO of Virgin Atlantic to host an event which will help you to address those questions.
Tom is a leading finance professional who originally trained with Ernest & Young before making his first move into industry. Tom has worked across the UK and Ireland, working in technical finance positions right through to Head of Commercial Finance roles. Having worked his way up to CFO of Logica, Tom made the move to work for Marks and Spencer, a FTSE 100 organisation in the retail sector.
After a few more years (and promotions!) at Marks and Spencer, Tom made the decision to join Virgin Atlantic and lead the Finance team over an exciting period. He has undertaken a number of transformation projects and works very closely with the board, executive committee and Richard Branson himself!
Our event is aimed at anyone who is currently studying ACA, or has recently qualified. If you are wondering which direction you should take, be it industry or practice, this could really help you make your decision. Tom will be providing an insightful and intriguing speech about ‘life after practice’ and will give you some tips on how you can stand out from the crowd and also build a career that will enable you reach the financial controller level from both the candidate and hiring manager perspectives.
