Considering the political and economic outlook, 2019 is shaping up to be an interesting year for tax and we certainly anticipate there to be an air of caution from hiring managers.

2018 showed itself as a good year for opportunities within the tax profession, despite a slowdown at the end of the year. The in-house tax market experienced significant growth in 2018. In particular, there was a notable increase in the number of project-based roles as organisations prepared for Brexit, with some selecting interim support in these positions.
There is certainly a need for hiring to help deal with the Brexit onslaught, but the approach to hiring will probably be wary until there is more clarity.
As part of compiling the 2019 Morgan McKinley salary guides, 2,400 active UK based professionals and employers were surveyed to gain an insight into their varying views of employment.
