2019 is going to be a difficult year but hopefully the turmoil will create plenty of opportunities across Risk Management.

The Risk Management recruitment landscape

Establishing roles in European locations was a priority in 2018, resulting in a less buoyant market in London. This said, some of the more technical and niche roles like regulation jobs continued to be sourced in London and it is unlikely that they will move elsewhere.

It’s safe to say that hiring managers had a strong pool of candidates to choose from in 2018 - generally, they would interview the entire pool before making a final selection for operational risk jobs and financial risk jobs.

There has been a drive towards gender equality that will continue; it’s an ongoing concern within risk, which is a male dominated discipline - the balance is gradually improving and we have seen some high quality female professionals in the market.
