The increasing popularity of in house Legal jobs lies predominantly in the perception of better work-life balance and and the allure of an escape from the pressure of chargeable hours.

The Legal recruitment landscape

2018 was a very positive year for the recruitment of permanent legal professionals. On the whole, there was a 33% increase in jobs available compared to 2017, with significant investment seen in-house, as well as continued growth within practice.

Most sectors flourished in 2018, resulting in increased year-on-year hiring; legal services in the UK now employ over 340,000 people, with over 100,000 being based in London. The Top 100 law firms also saw positive growth in terms of revenue, displaying a 10% increase for 2018. In house Legal jobs were frequently filled.
