2018 was generally a good year for finance recruitment within banking and financial services. That being said, we noticed how some of the organisations that demanded temporary resources in 2017 were not those driving interim recruitment in 2018.
Tier 1 and tier 2 investment banks remained relatively stable throughout the year. Some of the banks were still in the hiring freeze phase, meaning volume was mainly driven by roles that require technical skills due to regulatory changes. In contrast, we saw an increase in hiring across the challenger and smaller banks.
As part of compiling the 2019 Morgan McKinley salary guides, 2,400 active UK based professionals and employers were surveyed to gain an insight into their varying views of employment.
