Job Description

Small, successful and diverse TV retailer, which connects with over a million viewers daily is currently looking to recruit an Assistant Financial Analyst/Management Account, due to an internal promotion. Based in West London, this company has been listed as one of the UK's fasted growing companies and has won several awards.

The Role:

To support the Senior Management Accountant and other senior finance staff to make the best use of resources and to comply with accounting and reporting requirements.

Key Deliverables:

  • Bank reconciliations in multi-currency
  • Detailed daily receivables reconciliation.
  • Producing daily reconciliations for clearance.
  • Processing accruals and posting journals
  • Managing company credit card/ merchant services spend and analysis.
  • Preparing information for the monthly financial reviews for specific group of departments with exception reporting for key variances
  • Ad hoc reporting

Business Planning and Reporting Service:

  • Reporting daily/weekly and monthly on financial issues and outcomes relating to departments on a timely basis.
  • Reporting on overheads
  • Supporting the strategic business planning processes, providing accurate financial information throughout the business planning process and during Departmental reviews.
  • Provide monthly and ad hoc transaction reports to departmental managers/ Group to enable regular and accurate monitoring.

Continuous Business Improvement:

  • Bringing professional and insightful "challenge" to existing Financial Management practice within departments, ensuring service provided to Heads of department is timely and meaningful.
  • Keen to learn from more senior members in the department and sharing knowledge and promoting best practice.
  • Developing relationships with colleagues across all areas of the business.

The Candidate

In addition to the core competencies - the candidate requirements are:

  • Experience of financial or data analysis
  • Experience of reconciliations and accruals
  • Stock knowledge would be invaluable
  • Retail background preferrable
  • CIMA/ACCA (or equiv) Foundation/Intermediate level as this would align well with the responsibilities
  • Strong academics with a relevant degree (or equiv) with a 2:1 or above
  • Systems literate including excellent Excel (pivot-tables & lookups) skills and MS access
  • Good working knowledge of a finance function preferably within a retail environment.

You will have experience of managing your workload with competing priorities, adapting quickly and effectively to new demands as required.

You should have the ability to take timely and reasoned decisions, independently if necessary. Using past experience and careful judgement, you should demonstrate the competence to identify and clearly define key issues in order to determine or recommend the most suitable course of action from a range of possible options to problems and solutions for beneficial change.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

You will be working with a range of colleagues. The ability to present complex financial information clearly both verbally and in writing to support organisational decision-making is vital. You should demonstrate an open and inclusive style, contributing your own ideas but demonstrating good listening skills and respecting and valuing the input of others.
